Thanks so much for bringing this very important issue to light. Much of the city is in shock to see how graffiti has been allowed to desecrate our streets, highways, onramps, tunnels and private property over the past several years. It should never have been tolerated to this level, and it’s quite unfortunate that many parts of Seattle now look like old industrial rust-belt cities. What’s equally unfortunate is that it is now spreading to our brand-new, yet-to-be completed downtown waterfront. The new Corten steel planters have been tagged multiple times, as has the new aquarium.
It would seem that the city could send a strong message by initially targeting some of the major repeat offenders. One of these vandals has tagged their name dozens of times in and around the Mercer onramp and tunnels. Shocking how just a few vandals could do so much damage to one city.
