Gypsy Rose Blanchard-Anderson has found herself in the middle of a social media controversy after announcing her new Lifetime series.
The 32-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday, February 6, to share that she and her husband, Ryan Anderson, will be putting out a new series with Lifetime that will bring viewers into her life following her prison release — only one issue… this news comes two days after she invited her followers into her world, “not as a public figure but as JUST GYPSY.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard Bashed Online After Latest Lifetime Announcement
“You heard it here first – I am so excited to announce my new docu-follow coming soon to @lifetimetv!” Gypsy shared in a new video. “This series picks up in the days immediately before my release from prison, and will be an authentic, raw and revealing look at my new ‘normal’.”
However, the announcement did not go over well with fans, as they immediately pointed out that Gypsy was being a bit hypocritical — claiming in one post that she is not a public figure, but then within 48 hours announcing a new Lifetime series.
“I thought you weren’t a ‘public figure’ like you claimed in your last post,” one user pointed out, adding, “then your next post is advertising your reality or whatever show unbelievable.”
This user is referring to her previous post, in which she stated, “I never said that I was perfect, I am 100% human, I make mistakes but I learn from them. I gain achievements, celebrate them with me. I invite y’all into my world not as a public figure but as JUST GYPSY.”
One day after Gypsy Rose shared the “public figure” post, she followed up, claiming she “removed public figure from my bio because I think the narrative that has been put out there in the last month has not been accurate to my advocacy work.”
“I’m still just Gypsy, not a celebrity, but I am a woman with a voice who wants to be the change that I want to see happen in the world While also, living my life and enjoying my personal social media and sharing those happy moments with y’all,” she added.
Regardless, the 32-year-old is now receiving hate from many social media users for her choice of words.
Gypsy Rose Slammed For Latest Series Announcement
Following the latest announcement, which seems to contradict her previous post, one follower commented, “And this just proves that you’re only in this for the money. Like mother, like daughter. Both money grabbers.”
For those who are unaware, Gypsy is believed to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where the caretaker either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick to get charity or sympathy.
It is believed that Dee Dee, Gypsy’s mom, had suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy as she claimed Gypsy to have many medical diagnoses and disorders — none of which she had. In turn, Dee Dee received charity money and was even granted a wish by Make-A-Wish.
Another social media user shared their prediction amid Gypsy’s new-found fame, asking others, “Why does it feel like she’s going to be getting a reality TV show?”
“Thought you said you wanted to maintain a private like in your emails you sent in jail,” another user commented.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard-Anderson’s new Lifetime series is coming soon.
