I’ve learned so much from your excellent coverage of the proposed Horse Heaven Hills wind farm. I support Scout Clean Energy’s bid to maximize the number of wind turbines in this project. Property values, views, and ample protection for ferruginous hawks are important. The Yakama Nation has concerns about the project and they deserve careful consideration.
However, our energy demands are soaring. Without a decisive pivot towards clean energy, forest fires and pollution will continue to degrade the air we breathe and shorten our lives. As Norm Dicks writes, “Time is not our friend in our fight with climate change.” [“Reevaluate decisions that hamper our clean energy future,” Opinion, March 18] The EFSEC should reconsider its preliminary decision and permit more wind turbines.
