Seattle could get balmy as climate change progresses

For those among us who get too chilled during Seattle winters, hang around a few decades, warmth is on the way.

Projections about the future effects of climate change suggest that, while Oklahoma turns into a dust bowl, Florida sinks into the sea and Arizona runs out of water, Washington will become rather balmy. Actually, amend that. Western Washington will get warmer and more like Northern California. Eastern Washington might get a wee bit too parched.

We may have to build walls on the Cascade mountain passes and at the Columbia River to keep all those Oklahoman, Floridian and Arizonan refugees from moving in on us, but such is the cost of maintaining our pleasant, rainy oasis.
