I have been tired of riding the “spring forward, fall back “ merry-go-round every year. A couple of years ago, the state tried to jump off by switching to year-round daylight saving time. Alas, that change required the federal government to enable it. That hasn’t happened, so we are forced to ride the merry-go-round this year.
I had assumed that switching to year-round standard time also required action at the federal level. But a recent article [“Daylight saving begins soon. When will it ever end?” March 7] indicates that I am wrong. We can switch to year-round standard time on our own.
Senate Bill 5795 would have gotten the job done, but it died. Could someone please repackage it as an initiative? If we move fast , we can look forward to falling back for the last time this November.
