Victor Wembanyama has already done astounding things all season as an NBA rookie, and the sky is the limit for the 7’4” 20-year-old out of France. Even Gregg Popovich is amazed at what his rookie center has accomplished in his first year. Recently, Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving did not hold back in his praise for Wemby.
“He does do things like a Defensive Player of the Year would,” Irving said. “He’s showing signs that he’s exceeded all the Defensive Player of the Year stats of the previous guys that have won it. You guys see it. I don’t know who they’re going to pick, but I mean he has all the tools to be named Defensive Player of the Year. He’s for sure a candidate.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. The NBA began awarding the Defensive Player of the Year following the 1982-83 season. Since then, the award has been given out 41 times, and Wembanyama is almost assuredly going to be on the list someday soon. So with that in mind, how many of the 41 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
