Sullivan’s Parenthood Journey
Prior to transitioning, Sullivan became pregnant with Arla as a teenager. He told PopSugar that although it was a terrifying time, he “didn’t consider abortion or putting his baby up for adoption. ‘It was something I felt inside, and I was like, ‘I’m going to do this, I want to raise the most amazing human.’ It was this really strong intuition in me. I just knew I was going to bring someone so amazing into the world, and I was going to raise it so differently than how I was raised and how I’ve seen so many people raised. That was that motivation to be like, ‘You can do this.’”
It was Arlo’s birth that pushed Sullivan to live his authentic life.
“When Arlo was just a baby, he came out as gay. ‘She was really my motivation for that,’ he said. ‘I remember I was looking at her as a baby, and I was like, ‘If I’m going to raise this child and I want her to grow up to be whoever she wants to be, I have to be that,’” he told the website.
