The NBA on Sunday slapped Miami Heat big man Thomas Bryant with a three-game suspension for his involvement in a recent on-court skirmish. The decision somehow caught the 26-year-old center off guard.
Bryant was one of three Heat players suspended following a brawl that broke out during Friday’s Heat-Pelicans clash at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, La. Thomas was seen exchanging blows with Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado.
While speaking to the media on Sunday, Bryant admitted that he was “surprised” by the lengthy suspension. He also claimed that he was trying to serve as a “peacemaker” during the altercation.
