Re: “Holocaust education requirement fails in WA Legislature” [Feb. 24, Local News]:
I appreciate the thorough reporting on the failure of the Holocaust education bill. However, the article downplays the role of Washington Ethnic Studies Now, as I have reported in The Cholent, Seattle’s only Jewish news outlet. WAESN mobilized the opposition with misinformation about the bill and its funding. More concerning, WAESN has a documented history of trying to exclude Jewish community concerns from public education, arguing that local Jewish organizations are white and powerful.
Their efforts to marginalize the Holocaust Center for Humanity are proof that Holocaust education is a good idea.
