Joel Embiid is the NBA’s reigning regular-season MVP, but this season, he might be playing the best basketball of his career. He’s averaging a 36.1 PPG, which is rarefied air in itself, but he’s also putting up career-highs in assists and steals, while just about every other one of his stats is currently above last season’s pace. This all culminated on Monday, when Embiid had maybe the best game of his career, putting up a franchise-record 70 points against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Of course, given the NBA’s new rules regarding award eligibility, Embiid is almost certainly not going to repeat as MVP, but that would be totally fine by the 29-year-old superstar as long as he gets to put a different piece of hardware on his mantel at the end of the season.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Throughout NBA history, only 36 players have scored 60 or more points during an NBA regular-season game, a list which now includes Embiid. So with that in mind, how many of the 36 can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
