On his home floor, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton is making a strong early case for MVP of the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.
Haliburton wasted little time flexing his offensive muscle, scoring 15 points over a span of one minute and 32 seconds. Perhaps most impressively, his scoring spree included five consecutive makes from beyond the arc.
The Pacers’ star, playing in his second straight All-Star Game, led all scorers in the first quarter, ultimately finishing 5-of-6 from the field.
There are still three quarters to play, but Haliburton has put himself in an excellent position to earn the Kobe Bryant MVP award. If he does, he’ll be the 15th player in NBA history to win the honor on their home floor and the first since Anthony Davis in 2017. The list includes several Hall of Famers, including Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Jerry West, Rick Barry, Bob Petit, Wilt Chamberlain and Bob Cousy.
