The Baltimore Ravens can’t catch a break in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Down 17-7 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed a short pass to rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers, who fumbled the ball at the Chiefs 1-yard line. Cornerback Trent McDuffie recovered it, resulting in a touchback.
This mistake was costly, but it shouldn’t detract from Flowers’ solid game. With a little over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the first-round pick out of Boston College leads the team in receiving with five receptions for 115 yards and one TD.
For his part, MVP favorite Jackson has completed 20-of-37 passes for 272 yards, one TD and one interception as of this publishing.
Clearly, Baltimore must get it going to come back and defeat the defending Super Bowl champions. K.C. is attempting to clinch its fourth AFC title in the past five years.
